Autumn 2024. As the leaves fell to the ground this year, I found myself paying a lot of attention to the colors, shapes and the gestures the leaves make as they drop to the ground. I tried to imagine standing under the tree and looking up as they came down above my head while working on this series.
My goal, other than finding out what leaf this is exactly, is to try to create a few more to make it a series of “The Behavior of Autumn Leaves” (Title in progress). I believe it’s a Fig Leaf but I am not certain, so please correct me if you read this and now!
This year, the trees put on a peaceful, glorious show. I tried to capture the colors, the movement and the juxtapositon of shapes against a faint blue sky. These turned out very abstract, but I am so pleased with them! If only I had more of those leaves around!
If you are interested in any of the artwork, inquire through my contact form. These painting range from 22 x 30 and 24 x 36” and a few other variations, like for the one painted on wood.
